SUMMARY:Self-Efficacy Survey: Transforming Education through Teacher Confidence – Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Self-efficacy refers to beliefs we hold about our ability to complete a particular task. It is not sufficient to possess the knowledge and skills to perform a task, you also have to have the conviction that you can successfully perform the task during typical as well as challenging circumstances. As educators, we are charged with teaching all children. Thus, it is critical for teacher educators to engage teacher candidates in self-assessment of their sense of efficacy in meeting the needs of all learners. BranchED, in collaboration with several EPPs and their district partners, developed a self-assessment survey to capture teacher candidates’ sense of self-efficacy and ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment. Participants of this workshop will learn about the tool’s development to ensure validity and reliability, recommendations on how to apply the survey throughout a program of study, and how to utilize the findings for program improvement.\n
